Spinners – One of the Most Popular Lures for Predator Fishing

Spinners are widely used artificial lures for catching predatory fish. Every angler, whether a beginner or an experienced fisherman, is surely familiar with these simple metal plates equipped with treble hooks or other types of hooks. Many believe that these traditional lures remain the most successful and effective for spinning fishing. Some anglers never replace them with modern wobblers, soft plastic lures, or other alternatives. Tail Spinners

Tail spinners are a convincing choice for any spinning angler due to their unique combination of inline spinner, pilker, and vertical jigging lure movements. Internationally, they are also called jig spinners because they are mainly used near the bottom.

Tail spinners consist of a compact, weighted fish-shaped body (usually made of lead or other heavy metals) with a rotating blade attached to the rear via a swivel. Thanks to their heavy and compact design, they allow extremely long casts, even in strong headwinds or crosswinds.

The ball-bearing blade adds vibrations and flashing reflections, making them highly effective. Another major advantage is that they do not twist the fishing line and work well in strong currents.

Pilkers

Pilkers are best known from saltwater and salmon fishing, but smaller-sized pilkers have proven highly effective for asp fishing in Hungary. Their slim, heavy shape allows them to be cast extremely far, making them the fastest retrievable lures.

When retrieved quickly near the surface, their trembling, darting action makes them irresistible to asp, particularly in still waters.
